Scope
These Terms & Personal Use Licence apply to the Picturing Places website, creator, previews, free downloads, and paid print-ready files. In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “Picturing Places” refer to Picturing Bits and the Picturing Places service.
A paid print-ready file is a digital product. No physical poster, frame, or printing service is included unless we expressly say otherwise at checkout.
Paid downloads
Your personal-use licence
When you buy a print-ready file, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use that specific artwork for your personal, non-commercial use. This licence starts when the file is made available to you and does not transfer ownership or copyright in the artwork.
Free wallpaper downloads are also for personal, non-commercial use only. They are intended for use as the wallpaper or background for your own devices.
What you may do
- download and keep a backup copy of the file for your personal use;
- print a reasonable number of copies for your home or as personal, non-commercial gifts;
- send the file to a print shop solely to make those permitted copies; and
- display the printed artwork in a private home or other personal space.
What you may not do
- share the original file, private download link, or licence with another person;
- sell, sublicense, redistribute, upload, or give away the file or a printed copy as a product;
- use the artwork for commercial, promotional, editorial, or business purposes;
- offer the artwork through a print-on-demand, stock, marketplace, or template service; or
- remove copyright, attribution, or ownership notices where they are present.
If you need a commercial licence, additional rights, or a larger run, please contact us before using the artwork.
Ownership
Picturing Bits and its licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in the Picturing Places service, its map styling, artwork, designs, software, and other original materials. Your selected place and labels make the artwork personal to you; they do not grant you ownership of the Picturing Places design system. This ownership statement does not claim ownership of underlying map data or third-party materials.
Map data and third-party rights
The creator uses self-hosted regional map data derived from OpenStreetMap contributors, and may use a low-detail base derived from Natural Earth. Place search is provided by Geoapify. A map-data notice is provided with downloads and should be kept with a print’s backing, packaging, or download records.
OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Data Commons Open Database Licence (ODbL). Nothing in these terms grants you rights in underlying geographic data beyond the rights available under its applicable licence and third-party terms.
Delivery and consumer rights
Paid files are delivered digitally after payment and rendering are complete. You are responsible for choosing a suitable printer or print shop, and for any printing costs. Colours and final appearance can vary with paper, ink, printer, screen, and print-shop settings.
Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for paid purchases and processes payment. Picturing Bits supplies the licensed digital content.
Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded. Where the law requires consent and acknowledgement before immediate supply of digital content affects a withdrawal right, those requirements apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service or legal requirements develop. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. The version in force when you acquire a file applies to that file.
